The Greater Peoria Chess Foundation is a 501(c)3 non profit organization dedicated to encouraging chess in our community and school systems. Chess helps students to develop many life skills that will help them as they navigate with challenges that lay ahead.


Scholastic Chess Scholarship Tour The 2024-25 school schedule features our new Grand Prix Chess Tour program that offers scholarships for some lucky players to attend the USCF K-8 Championships in Bloomington or the Nationals in Orlando, Florida at the end of the chess season. Former Peoria player, Elbert Fang, has attatained the rating of USCF Master, 2200, at the Queen City Prairie Open in Fort Worth, Texas with a win over Sharvesh R Deviprasath (2545). See the game here.

The Kingsmen Chess Club

The Peoria Kingsmen Chess Club, meets Monday nights at the Life Together Center (formerly the Great Central Insurance Bldg) at Sheridan & War Memorial 7 to 11pm. It is mostly for adults with ratings in exess of 1000, but all players are welcome.

The Hult Youth Chess Club

Although no formal instruction is given, beginners are welcomed and receive general instruction on how to play. Friday night is fun night, the kids are a little loud for chess but they all have a great time. Private lessons may be available, depending on availability.

The Hult Youth Chess Club (K-12) will meet online every Friday night at 6:30 on Zoom with a 7pm tournament on chess.com. You can join us by using these links:
